Kydd Jones – ICU

Kydd Jones releases his new “ICU” single.

Texas singer-songwriter/producer Kydd Jones prepares for 2020 with his first single of the year entitled ICU. Jones is currently nominated for Best Hip-Hop Act at the Austin Music Awards and has upcoming shows at Mohawk Austin on February 4th and Antone’s Nightclub on January 24th. Last year, Jones guest-starred with Grammy-winning guitarist Gary Clark Jr at Austin City Limits Music Festival, was announced as a Creative Ambassador for the City of Austin by Mayor Steve Adler and was part of the Artist Development Program for Austin Music Foundation. Kydd says about his new song:

“I wrote this song when I was in and out of ICU last summer. I went to the hospital for what I thought was a sore throat after having a long day/night at the studio. As soon as I checked in, they rushed me to surgery at 4 AM. After my second surgery, the doc walked in and said “Are you ready?” I just looked at him. Next, he started pulling the tubes out of my mouth/throat that I had just had surgery on. Both sides of my throat were still swollen and that huge tube they pulled out of my throat will forever be lodged in my memory. They didn’t know if my voice would be the same, or if I would be able to sing or rap or do anything like that with my voice.”

Kydd Jones recovered to have an eventful 2019, performing at the HEB Center at Cedar Park for the 102.3 The Beat Showdown, the Antone’s 44th Anniversary Celebration, the Matt & Kim Grand 10 Year show at Emo’s Austin and SXSW.
