The Hamiltones – 1964

The Hamiltones release their new album titled “1964.”

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was considered a landmark achievement of the Civil Rights Movement. While there’s still much more progress to be made in the fight for racial justice and equality 56 years later, we’re now witnessing another historical moment in Black history. Today (8/28/2020), on the 57th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic ‘I Have A Dream’ speech at the March on Washington, and the 65th anniversary of the high-profile death of Emmett Till, the viral R&B/Soul sensations known as The Hamiltones reflect this moment in history with the release of their powerful new album 1964. 

With features from rapper Petey Pablo, and a tribute to Congressman John Lewis recorded prior to his death, 1964 serves as a timely tribute to the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S., while providing a moving soundtrack to the current global movement for racial justice and equality.

Enjoy!” - The HamilTones     Available on all digital streaming platforms via Common Cents/EMPIRE/Young Vintage, 1964 serves as The Hamiltones’ full-length follow-up to 2019’s Watch The Ton3s EP and February’s Watch The Ton3s (The B Side) EP. It was recently announced that the album will also serve as the official soundtrack for the Restore Black Wall Street 2021 campaign. 

To celebrate today’s release, The Hamiltones will participate in a live artist talk and premiere the official music video for album closer “Celebrate” for tonight’s ‘Music & The Movement’ virtual event. Hosted by Nikki Davis (aka Ya Girl Nikki), and presented by cxmmunity, CLTure, and the North Carolina Arts Council, the event will be live streamed via The Hamiltones’ Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook page tonight at 8PM EST. There is a suggested donation for attendance. Half of all proceeds will help restore the accreditation of Morris Brown University, a historically black institution. Donate here.
